The Trust’s work on accountability stems from a fundamental concern with empowering people to effectively participate in the public decision-making processes that affect their daily lives. Given the central role of public services in social and economic development, we are now looking to focus our expertise in accountability towards increasing the effectiveness and legitimacy of global organisations involved specifically in the public services delivery, beginning with the water and sanitation sector, and the delivery of Aids-related health services. The objectives of the GPSD project are to: - Provide a nuanced understanding of the accountability of the most powerful global organisations in public services delivery, as well as the accountability trends and challenges they face collectively
- Build the capacity of civil society organisations (CSOs) to hold service providers to account
Related documents and activities: - The Trust is currently working on a theoretical framework to enable us to identify the most powerful organisations within a public service sector. This research will be available soon. Watch this space!
